Interview by Staffing Specialist Maggie Sullivan
What role were you placed in, and what are some of your key responsibilities?
I am currently serving as a Board Services Associate with the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT). In this role, I support the ACCT Searches team by helping community colleges across the country identify and hire their executive leaders. My day-to-day work includes processing candidate applications, maintaining detailed search databases, and drafting tailored proposals and documents to guide our search consultants and committees through each step of the process.
What was your experience working with our team during the hiring process? How has this position contributed to your personal or professional growth?
Working with The Choice team was a fantastic experience. They were consistently responsive and attentive, making sure I had full clarity throughout the hiring process. Beyond simply connecting me with ACCT, The Choice thoroughly prepared me for each interview stage so I could step in with confidence. What stood out most was the personal investment. They weren’t just filling a role; they were committed to my success. I’ve valued the relationship so much that I’ve recommended The Choice to friends.
How has this position contributed to your personal or professional growth?
The position has been a perfect fit and has given me a strong foundation to grow a long-term career in the non-profit, higher education space. It’s deepened my understanding of leadership in the community college sector while also sharpening my organizational, project management, and communications skills.
Any career highlights or wins since starting your role that you're proud of?
Since joining ACCT, I’ve had the opportunity to support more than 15 executive searches for community colleges nationwide. Each search reinforced for me the vital role strong, student-centered leadership plays in advancing access and equity in higher education, something I’m proud to contribute to every day.
Would you recommend working with our firm to other job seekers? Why?
I wholeheartedly recommend The Choice to other job seekers. Unlike larger recruiting firms, The Choice offers a unique personal touch. They are a small but mighty team that genuinely cares about both the candidate’s success and the institution’s needs. Their thoughtful, hands-on approach makes the entire process feel supportive, intentional, and tailored to finding the best fit.
